ST JOHNS COUNTY, FLORIDA: The court on Tuesday, March 21 viewed never-before-seen surveillance footage and videos from Aiden Fucci's Snapchat account. On the internet, there were a variety of reactions, with some calling Fucci's lack of reaction after killing his classmate Tristyn Bailey "scary" and others noted that social media has damaged today's teenagers.

Sergeant Kurt Hannon testified at the court about how Fucci appeared to be using Snapchat while in police custody and riding in the back of a cruiser, according to Law&Crime. One of the posts made by Fucci was of him taking a peace sign selfie from the backseat with a sentence that read, "Hey guys has anybody seen Tristyn lately" to his Snapchat. The court was then shown a video of Fucci in a jovial mood with another teen in the back of the cruiser, in which he can be heard saying, "Having fun in a f***ing cop carr," and he once more names Bailey. The cheerleader's body hadn't been discovered yet at that point.

The court also viewed new footage of Fucci and his parents in a police station interrogation room following his arrest for questioning. Now that Bailey's body had been found, Fucci goes on to tell his parents, "It ain't my problem," after learning that she had died.

Fucci's parents point out that he was the last person to see her before chastising him for posting his Snapchat videos. His father believes it wasn't "very smart" to post to Snapchat in the surveillance video as his mother said the video was "all over the internet."

'Social media is why kids do the things they do now'

Many individuals have shared their reactions on Twitter in response to the release of the never-before-seen surveillance footage and Snapchat videos. One person wrote, "So he is detained for murder but not searched for weapons or handcuffed. No wonder he thinks it's a joke." Another person wrote, "His whole life?after what he did he doesn't deserve a life mom"

A third person who was terrified of Fucci's lack of remorse wrote, "So that was his parents' main concern? Did they ask him what he was doing out at that time of night/morning? Also, look at his flat affect. That's scary."

Another person wrote, "Sorry Mom & Dad... that's the whole idea of snap chat 'it's all of social media' . He got just what he wanted for everyone to see how kool he is in the back of a Police car! Wake up!!!" One person who believes Fucci is twisted wrote, "What's to like about this? This kid is sick af."

"Posted the video. Social media is why kids do the things they do now. Internet became popular in homes in the 90s. Columbine shooting happened in 1999 and things have gotten worse since then. At least that's my theory," this other person wrote.

How many years in prison will Aiden Fucci serve?

Aiden Fucci, 16, pled guilty to the first-degree murder of cheerleader Tristyn Bailey, 13, on Monday, February 6 as the sentencing hearing for the juvenile began in Florida. On Mother's Day in 2021, Fucci was just 14 years old when his classmate, Bailey, was murdered.

Bailey suffered 49 defensive stab wounds to the hands, arms, and head in addition to being stabbed 114 times. The medical examiner was able to "locate" the knife tip that was used to attack her in the victim's scalp. Fucci will serve at least 40 years in prison; the death sentence is not an option because he was a minor when the crime was committed.
