The search for Ahmiri Chaney: Amber Alert issued for toddler missing from Alaska home where woman was found dead
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA: An Amber Alert has been issued by Anchorage police in an effort to find a missing eight-month-old child, Ahmiri Chaney. The missing infant has been allegedly abducted by his father Eric Chaney Jr. However, a woman, with trauma to her upper body was found dead at the house when the police arrived.
The alleged 23-year-old abductor is described as BLACK, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and approximately 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Further, Eric was reportedly last seen wearing a dark ski mask, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, white or tan and blue. The sweatshirt has the Chicago Cubs logo on the sleeves and dark pants, as per Alaska News.

Who is Ahmiri Chaney?
Ahmiri is an 8-month-old toddler who has been missing from Anchorage, Alaska since Monday, February 17. The child is described as an Alaska native child with brown hair and brown eyes. When the Anchorage police sent out the amber alert, APD Community Relations Director Sunny Guerin said, “When Amber Alerts are sent, APD sends a request. We don’t actually send the Amber Alerts, and so when we do request it, we are exhausting all leads, all efforts to locate the child and then when those efforts are exhausted, then we move forward with publishing Amber Alerts and more in requesting public’s help and locating the child,” Guerin said. “In the past two years, this is the first one that we’ve issued in Anchorage," as per Alaska News.
What happened at Ahmiri Chaney's house?
"At 8:57 am on February 17, 2023, Anchorage Police were dispatched to the 6000-block of E 12th Avenue in reference to a homicide. When officers arrived, they found a deceased female adult victim with trauma to the upper body. The Crime Scene Team has responded to process the scene. There will be a continued police presence in the area as the investigation continues," stated Anchorage Police. The police also added, "Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ahmiri Chaney or Eric Chaney Jr., to include surveillance footage of the area, is asked to contact Police Dispatch at 9-1-1 or (907)786-8900 (option #0). Police are currently following up on leads and there is no further information to release at this time."
Further, it added, "We ask both the public and the media to refrain from posting/publishing photos and/or video of the scene until the situation is over. Showing tactical positions and movements in these types of situations can put the public and officers’ safety at risk."
