Ahmaud Arbery's mom reveals Trump was 'very compassionate and receiving' during White House meeting
The mother of Ahmaud Arbery, Wanda Cooper Jones, revealed that POTUS Donald Trump was "very compassionate" when she met him.
Trump had met various families behind closed doors on Tuesday before he signed an executive order that aims to reform the country's policing tactics. Fox News was able to obtain a quick audio clip of Wanda talking about her experience with meeting Trump.
She said, "I was very, very emotional throughout the whole conference. [Trump] was very compassionate. He showed major concern for all families. Not just one family, but for all families. I can say that President Trump was very receiving. He listened and he addressed each and every family accordingly."
POTUS was also full of praise for Wanda Jones and had even taken to Twitter on Tuesday night to say that Wanda is "A GREAT woman. Her son is looking down from heaven & is very proud of his wonderful & loving mom!!!"
Ahmaud Arbery was shot dead by father-son duo 64-year-old Gregory McMichael and 34-year-old Travis McMichael on February 23 on a street in Brunswick, Georgia in broad daylight while he was jogging. Arbery was shot thrice and was reported dead on the scene.
Trump's plan will look to ban the police from using chokeholds with the exception of when their lives are in danger. The plan will also set up a database where police departments can keep a track of the officers who have used excessive force.
He also said that the plan will increase "accountability" and "transparency" while allowing officers to keep doing their jobs and protecting their communities.
According to CBS, Wanda had felt that the executive order that had been signed by Trump was not enough while addressing the long history of police brutality and racism in the country. She also added, "But I do think that's it's a start."
Trump's daughter, Ivanka, had also taken to Twitter to share, "Mrs. Cooper-Jones, the tragic loss and injustice that you have suffered should be experienced by no parent. My father was honored to meet you today and deeply moved by your story. We are with you and will continue to hold your family and Ahmaud in our hearts. God Bless."
However, her tweet did not really sit well with social media users many of whom took to the comments section to let it be known. One such user shared, "Ivanka, your 3.5 years in the White House, and your counsel to the president, have resulted in an all-out war on minorities, punctuated by bullshit PR moves using people as props, like your tweet."
Another wrote, "My heart goes out to Mrs. Cooper Jones. However, Ivanka think about YOUR words: "the tragic loss and injustice that you have suffered should be experienced by no parent". Doesn't apply to kids in cages. Your history, speaks to your lack of humanity."
"And here it comes - the fake accounts are going to start to push for daddy’s little lap dancer to run for president. It was obvious what she was doing all along - campaigning. She’ll get annihilated if she runs - everyone picks up on the insincerity, even subconsciously," wrote another.
