Who is Jack the Whipper?

Jack The Whipper or Jacques Ze Whipper is the stage name of Jack Lepiarz, a whip-cracking expert and performer. Lepiarz is a news anchor for WBUR in Boston and performs at renaissance fairs in his free time. He is also the writer and anchor of the WBUR's 'Here and Now'.

As per his LinkedIn, Lepiarz grew up in the circus and performed as a child. He even worked there during his teenage years. Lepiarz has a broadcasting degree from Emerson College. His act helped him pay for his college and even offered additional support during his initial years as a freelance journalist.

In a conversation with wrkf89.3, Lepiarz spoke about how he joined his father and began performing more often. "I was 6-years-old and performing with my dad at King Richard’s Faire, which is up in Massachusetts," he said. "When I got older, you know, mid-teens, I wanted nothing to do with the circus. And I was working at an ice cream shop. I was making, I think it was $6.25 an hour, and my dad called me and said, 'I need some help with the show. I’ll pay you $50 an hour.' And I said, 'Whoa! I’m in the wrong business.'" he added.

However, now, even though he is a successful anchor, he enjoys both his careers. "I love them both and in different ways, and I love that at least for now I'm able to straddle the line of having time in the real world and having time at the Renaissance Faire," he says. "Ultimately, I want to be sort of anchored in one place — you know, I want kids, I want a life, I want a house. Long term, radio is where I’m going to be." he added.

'America's Got Talent' airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC. For viewers who wish to tune in to the show without cable, they can do so using any of the following streaming services: Sling TV, fuboTV, Hulu With Live TV, AT&T TV or YouTube TV.
