'America's Got Talent' Season 15: Bonavega's weird and wonderful world of drag rock 'n' roll earns four yeses

Beginning in a bathrobe and ending in a shimmering number most starlets would be jealous of, this act packed quite the punch

'America's Got Talent' has a way with endings. They save the best for last and no one could have predicted what episode two of Season 15 had in store for us. Bonavega, totally deadpan and monotone, with fiery eye makeup and a mullet and clad in a golden bathrobe, was the closing act for the night. And as he began his performance by stumbling around the stage, causing Heidi Klum to say she was "scared," no one knew what to expect.

Then off came the wardrobe to reveal a tanned muscular rockstar in a stunning shiny silver number, belting out an original song flawlessly while also playing electric guitar. And he did all of that in 90 seconds.

Viewers were, naturally, confused. One tweeted, "This guy is so weird," and another said, "This man is BEAUTIFUL." One viewer described the spectacle as "Lady gaga drunk to many protein shakes."

Mostly, though, viewers can't get enough of their new favorite act. "I love this guy!" tweeted one, another said, "HE HAS A GORGEOUS BODY," and one shared, "Bona Vega was amazing and was tough enough to wear that leotard too." One viewer stated, "I thought this act was going to be buzzed out, but BonaVega absolutely splayed!"

Another tweet read, "80s rock and roll just turned into another level!" and one stated, "ALICE COOPER RE-BORN #AGT."

As one viewer succinctly put it, "There are those one or two acts every year that is so weird, it's great and this is that act #AGT." And this appears to be a sentiment shared by many who tweeted, "It was weird but I like it" as well as, "The more I think about it... the more I like him #AGT."

The judges were equally bemused. "Look at @SimonCowell face after that performance," quipped one viewer. Admittedly, the judges knew they had witnessed something incredible but had trouble finding the words to describe it. Heidi, however, was on her feet and is evidently one of Bonavega's biggest fans following his performance.

When asked what inspired his act, the artiste shared he enjoyed performing "obnoxiously," adding it was an escape for him and he hoped it would be for others too. One viewer stated, "Let’s be honest, this is the kind of content we need right now #AGT."

Another viewer tweeted, "Whatever the f* that was, give him a yes!!!#AGT," and that's exactly what Bonavega got: with four yeses, the rockstar shimmied his way out the doors, with his large fan, smoke machine and all, leaving viewers still unsure of what they just saw, with one tweeting, "WTH?? #AGT u gave a guy who looked like he was on drugs, 4 yeses" and another closing with, "And that's how were ending the show tonight folks #AGT."
