'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 Finale: Will Gabriel Luna's Ghost Rider show up in the MCU show's final episode?
With 'Agents of SHIELD' coming to an end with the Season 7 finale event, there's a lot of speculation going on about who may or may not make a guest appearance in the two-part finale. One of the recurring characters whom fans would like to see again before the end is none other than Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), who made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the series' Season 4.
The character was supposed to get his own Hulu show but it was unfortunately canceled in September 2019. This was a huge shock for fans as Robbie was one of the most popular characters introduced in 'Agents of SHIELD'.
Speaking about the show's cancellation, Gabriel Luna told ComicBook, "You know, there was a lot of changes. That was in the works for some time. I was still under contract for almost three years with the promise that we would make it, and then it got the green light. We were setting up and building sets and writing scripts and everything was happening, and then I got a call that it wasn't. I'm thankful for all the time I had doing it, it's been really really fun playing him. But that's obviously all way above my pay grade. There's been a lot changes over there. The fans really love it and they keep crying out for it, and there's a bit of a chant going on the Internet, I think. But it's out of my power, man."
It would be amazing to have Luna appear in the series finale, especially considering how uncertain his future in the MCU currently is. Besides, his character has shown the ability to move between dimensions so it's not too much of a stretch to consider having him travel to the new timeline.
The agents could definitely use the extra (hell)firepower that Ghost Rider would bring to the table. Considering the Chronicoms have effectively won already, this is an advantage SHIELD desperately needs. The synopsis for the finale teases a reunion with friends past and present so it's actually quite possible that we might see Robbie in the final episodes. Whether that hope becomes reality is something we'll just have to wait and see.
Here's the synopsis for Episode 12 'The End Is at Hand' and Episode 13 'What We're Fighting For': "With their backs against the wall and Nathaniel and Sibyl edging ever closer to eliminating SHIELD from the history books, the agents must rely on their strengths to outsmart and outlast the Chronicoms. This is their most important fight, and it will take the help of friends and teammates, past and present, to survive." 'Agents of SHIELD' will air its series finale on August 12 at 9 pm ET on ABC.
