Spoilers for 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 Episode 4 'Out of the Past'

Marvel's popular sci-fi spy thriller 'Agents of SHIELD' is taking its final lap with Season 7. With the team traveling through time to the biggest moments in SHIELD history, they've been hard-pressed not to change its course but in Episode 4 'Out of the Past', they make a decision that fans have been eagerly hoping for. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans still haven't forgiven ABC for their premature cancelation of 'Agent Carter' but they're glad to see a beloved character from that show, Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), find new life on 'Agents of SHIELD', even if it is in the final season.

In the episode, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team are torn between saving Sousa from assassination by Hydra or allowing him to die and become a hero. In the end, they chose to fake Sousa's death and bring him aboard the Zephyr, a decision that the show's fans on Reddit are now celebrating. "Agents of Shield; where all the characters Marvel killed off but fans wanted more of a second chance," one fan wrote on the episode's discussion page.

"But for real, as Sousa was getting caught up on the skinny by Coulson it felt like that could be the pilot of a show about Sousa's resurrection, not unlike Coulson's." Another wrote, "I'm so happy Sousa is part of the team now, especially considering Agent Carter's premature cancelation." One very enthusiastic fan declared, "HOLY F*** THEY ACTUALLY DID IT, THEY SAVED SOUSA AND HE'S PART OF THE TEAM NOW F*** YEAH!"

Meanwhile, the episode also revealed that Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) cannot feel emotions herself but only feel the emotions of others now, a fact that means her old romance with Coulson may never come back. As happy as fans are about Sousa joining the squad, they're also pretty bummed out about that and very annoyed that SHIELD left the Chronicom Enoch (Joel Stoffer) behind yet again.

"I am SO HAPPY that Sousa lives and is part of the team, and I am SO SAD that May can literally never feel love again for Coulson or feel how much Coulson loves her," one fan wrote. "This season is giving me so many emotions!!!" Another shared, "I'm so on board with Sousa as part of the time-traveling squad but BRING ENOCH."

Ultimately, this one was a great episode and the promo clip for the next one does tease that Enoch will meet the team once again, this time in the 1970s. 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm on ABC.
