Spoilers for 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 Episode 1 'The New Deal'

The final season of 'Agents of SHIELD' has begun with time-travel, alien robots, and a Life Model Decoy of Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Episode 1 'The New Deal' was an epic start to Season 7 and the highlight of the episode, without a doubt, was LMD Coulson.

Fans have been flocking to Reddit to discuss the episode and they all agree that it's great to see Coulson back, especially after his misadventures as the alien mercenary Sarge in Season 6. Here's what the fans have been saying: "Loved the episode, great to see Coulson back and that new title card is fantastic," one fan commented.

"So good. LMD Coulson was by far my favorite part," another fan wrote. "They're setting us up for a terrible heartbreak before the end of the season, I just know it."

"I'm really happy they told Coulson that he is an LMD," yet another fan wrote. "Really good episode, excited to see what Simmons reveals happened to her and Fitz."

As an LMD, Coulson now has super-strength and he's practically immortal and one of the fans commented, "Coulson is definitely enjoying new superpowers haha" while another fan chimed in saying, "I'm so happy for Coulson that he gets to be a superhero. Even if he's dead."

"The way Clark Gregg is playing this is so much fun," a fan wrote. "Lots of empathy for his black mirror esque situation but all the little joys he's having of getting superpowers is also super fun."

The episode saw the SHIELD team attempting to stop the alien robots known as Chronicoms from changing history in 1931 and in the process, they ran into none other than Franklin D Roosevelt, a moment that was especially amazing for Coulson, who's a life-long (and post-life) history buff.

"LMD Coulson is already great," one fan wrote. "Making amazing FDR jokes, and just saying "It's a glitch, sorry," when nobody laughs - absolutely iconic. Plus, him getting super strength and being able to be a real deal superhero is awesome. AND, not to mention, the absolute history nerd Phil Coulson gets to take a jaunt through history? Meeting FDR? It's all so awesome."

'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 airs Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on ABC.
