'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 may get bloodier than ever with new time slot, speculate fans

This is a happy occasion for fans as we've had a bit of a drought of comic book content with the pandemic halting production on the Arrowverse shows and new comic books not arriving in stores

Marvel fans have a reason to rejoice as the OG MCU TV show 'Agents of SHIELD' is entering its endgame. ABC has announced the premiere date for the seventh and final season of the show and the fans are going crazy on social media.

'Agents of SHIELD' Season 7 will begin airing on ABC on Wednesday, May 27. The new season comes with a new time slot as well, with the show moving from Fridays at 8 pm ET to Wednesdays at 10 pm ET. Fans of the show are already celebrating the announcement on social media with one fan tweeting, "I can’t believe it’s the final season it’s so good."

"OMG, I’m so excited!" wrote another fan. "Thank you to the cast and crew for all these seasons!"

Over on Reddit, fans are busy speculating what the new time slot might mean for the show. It appears a lot of fans are hoping that the later time slot might allow the show to get a bit more extreme with its content.

"Not sure about the day change, but it being moved from 8 to 10 is a good sign," one fan wrote. "Networks tend to their more violent shows air later in the night, which means this season should be more serious and (possibly) brutal."

Another fan wrote, "Shield being at 10 PM is what's making me most interested; does this mean the maturity level has been amped up?"

"The last time they were at 10pm, the season started with Ghost Rider brutally murdering some gangbangers in the middle of the street," one fan pointed out. "Then again, season 5 started with Virgil getting a Vrellnexian claw to the face and it was at 8."

In any case, this is a happy occasion for fans of the show and the superhero genre, especially since we've had a bit of a drought of comic book content what with the coronavirus pandemic halting production on the Arrowverse shows and new comic books not arriving in stores.

"Oh, it's good to be back!" One fan declared. "I'm thankful for one more run with the gang, especially since we will be without new media for quite some time to come. One more season of 'please give us a cool cameo'. One more season of 'it's all kinda sorta loosely connected'. One more 'I swear to god, if we don't get a happy Fitz-Simmons ending I'm gonna lose it.' One more season of rapid-fire insanity live episode thread posting. I'll admit to having my qualms with S6 after the amazing end of S5, but this is one last chance for AoS to have a slightly autonomous center stage in the MCU. Let's finish strong."

Here's the synopsis for the upcoming final season, courtesy of Comic Book:

"Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD are thrust backward in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. With the all-new Zephyr set to time-jump at any moment, the team must hurry to find out exactly what happened. If they fail, it would mean disaster for the past, present and future of the world. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leopold Fitz, Henry Simmons as Director Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez and Jeff Ward as Deke Shaw."
