HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA: A Minnesota mother who admitted to savagely beating her newborn to death has been sentenced to serve more than two years in prison. Addison Sioux Perdew left her two-month-old son with brain hemorrhages, two collapsed lungs, lacerations to his liver, bruising across his "entire head, torso, arms, and legs", 33 rib fractures, and multiple fractures to his skull, according to the autopsy report.

A 25-year-old mother has been ordered by Hennepin County District Court Judge Tamara G Garcia to serve a jail time of 261 months, nearly 22 years in connection to the newborn's tragic death after she physically abused the baby. The autopsy report ruled the death a homicide, reported Law and Crime.

Perdew's second-degree murder with intent charges dropped

One count of second-degree murder with intent charged against Perdew was dropped after she entered a plea agreement and in exchange, she pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder without intent in connection to her son's gruesome death. Perdew had already served 533 days in prison.

On November 10, 2021, Minneapolis police responded to a 911 call that informed them a baby had been "beaten to death" in her apartment in the 900 block of 22nd Avenue South, as per court documents.

In an affidavit, the police wrote, "Officers observed a small leg under a blanket on a bed. Underneath, officers located a small baby boy victim, without clothing, appearing only a couple months old."

"The victim had dried blood around his nose and mouth, purple and red bruises across ‘almost his entire head, torso, arms and legs.’ The victim was approximately 2 months old, not breathing, cool to the touch, and pronounced deceased by officers on the scene," read the affidavit.

Perdew claimed she had no memory of the abuse

Perdew whose hand seemed extremely swollen and "very dark red" from bruising was shifted to a hospital and claimed she took an entire bottle of pills. Talking to the investigators, she claimed that she had no memory of the abuse as she blacked out. However, she confirmed that she "was the only one there and must have done it."

Police found a series of disturbing videos and messages from her cell phone that showed her threatening the baby. Perdew later admitted to killing her two-month-old. In one of the videos where the victim was just "sitting quietly in a car seat", Perdew can be heard yelling at him saying, "You’re so f****** annoying… go to sleep.. what the f*** are you doing what is your problem? Bro stop. F****** stop that shit. Take your ass the f*** to sleep." In a message she sent to someone minutes before the police arrived, the 24-year-old woman said, "I’m not going to prison and I can’t bring him back to life."
