While social media can be used for good causes and spreading awareness, it can also be a place filled with bizarre theories and opinions. Actor and podcaster Adam Carolla, also known for being the co-host of 'The Man Show' with Jimmy Kimmel, caught the ire of social media users for his latest tweet. He wrote, "Turns out the people dying from covid are old or sick or both. How many of you pu**y's got played? and who's going to get played the next time."

People lashed out at him for this bizarre statement. Actor Bradley Whitford criticized, "180,000 dead. I know several of them. Not all were old or sick. This disease is ravaging our most vulnerable communities. People are risking their lives to care for them. My sister is a retired nurse. You’re a comedian using a pandemic to get attention for your stupid career."

Comedian Christopher Titus said, "When people you used to respect show you they don’t understand science, common sense or how to spell 'pu**ies' Guy has a mild stroke. Stumbles in front of a bus. Bus drags his body two blocks. Died of a stroke. Yep, makes sense."

Actor Adam Goldberg commented, "Hey Adam, it’s your old pal Adam. I don’t make enough t-cells or pneumonia antibodies. My mom has Lupus. She’s helping us take care of our 5 and 1 year olds as my wife and I work from home. Stay well."

One angry user wrote, "I'm a 52 y.o. widowed mother of two, who was an essential worker until a maskless a**hole infected me at work. Now my lungs, heart and kidneys are damaged and I have been sick for *months.* DOZENS of families in my neighborhood are struggling w COVID, you stunted brain stem."

Another questioned, "So if there is a 30 year old with Lupus, a small child with diabetes, & a 50 year old fighting cancer, all of whom could survive & live full lives, ALL die of covid complications, it's ok with you?"

A user said, "It doesn't matter what you think, when in public wear a goddamn mask and stay the hell away from the rest of us."

Another stated, "You packed a lot of bulls**t into one tweet, pu**y."

Later, quoting a user's tweet who questioned him, "So you’re good with the old and weak being wiped out?", Carolla replied, "I love the elderly. No child should ever have to bury a parent."

In June, he had mocked CNN by tweeting, "@CNN presents, Covid-19: The Movie. 'We're all going to die. We're all racist. The End."

He is no stranger to controversy. Back in 2012, in an interview with New York Post, when asked "The lesson you learned from a sexual harassment seminar was 'Don’t hire chicks'. Do you hate working with women?", Carolla had answered saying, "No. But they make you hire a certain number of chicks, and they’re always the least funny on the writing staff."

He added, "The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I’m just gonna tell her, 'Be a staff writer for a sitcom. Because they’ll have to hire you, they can’t really fire you, and you don’t have to produce that much. It’ll be awesome'."

A few female comedians had hit back at him for his comments. Comedian Jenny Johnson said, "The biggest impact this whole Adam Carolla scandal has had is discovering 95% of people have no idea how to spell 'Carolla'."

Actress Lena Dunham had said, "Wait, Adam Carolla, is he the one who did the voice of the parrot in Aladdin??? He makes me giggle."
