'Actors sacrifice a lot': Fans stunned as Jacob Elordi reveals he went extreme method to play Elvis Presley in 'Priscilla'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Australian actor Jacob Elordi used a complete method acting approach by eating a pound of bacon every day to prepare for the role of Elvis Presley in 'Priscilla'.
In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the 26-year-old actor sat with Sofia Coppola, the director of 'Priscilla' and co-star Cailee Spaeny, who plays the title character. Elordi explained how he got into the character of the 'King of Rock and Roll' by imbibing his infamous unhealthy eating habits.
'Priscilla' is a biopic based on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir 'Elvis and Me'. The movie focuses on her early life, her meeting with the rock 'n' roll superstar, their courtship and tumultuous marriage, and divorce, until he died in 1977.
Jacob Elordi mimicked Elvis Presley's decadent diet
Elordi's acting stressed the personal experiences of Presley and he immersed himself into the character by stuffing himself with bacon daily.
"You ate a lot of bacon," director Coppola told her lead man. "Priscilla [Presley] told us that Elvis liked really burnt bacon," the director added.
Elordi agreed with her, stating, "I ate a lot of bacon."
"I averaged like a pound of bacon a day," he added. "It's not that noticeable because I'm quite long, but I was the biggest I've ever been."
Spaeny also shared her knowledge about the 'Heartbreak Hotel' singer's eating habits. She talked about his famous "Fool's Gold" sandwich.
"Priscilla told me that because they were so poor, that they would just live off peanut butter and banana sandwiches. So when he was more successful, like, it reminded him of being a kid," Coppola said.
Both critics and the real-life Priscilla praised Elordi's portrayal of Elvis, especially the accent. She "couldn't believe how Jacob's voice" was exactly like her late husband.
Social media applauds Jacob Elordi's method acting
Elordi's performance was compared with Austin Butler's portrayal of the singer in the 2022 movie 'Elvis', said Daily Mail.
However, movie lovers did not refrain from praising him for his dedication and method acting approach, which differed from Butler's.
A user acknowledged Eroldi's work by stating, "Actors sacrifice a lot."
