Actor Eli Roth files for divorce from Lorenza Izzo, says: "We are ultimately separating so we don't f---ing kill each other"
Another Hollywood couple has parted ways. Actor/director Eli Roth and his Italian actor/model wife Lorenza Izzo have called it quits after almost four years of marriage. The pair who tied the knot in 2014 at a beach wedding in Zapallar, Chile, have no children together.
The pair took to social media to announce their separation. "It is with deep love and respect that we are choosing to separate as a couple. We've had an incredible journey together, we love each other very much, and will remain the best of friends," the statement in their Instagram post read
The Inglorious Basterds star, who also moonlights as a writer, producer in addition to being an actor and director, met Izzo on the sets of the movie 'Green Inferno' for which he served as a writer, director and producer, TMZ reports. A year later, the movie was released and they were married. The pair have also worked together in ‘Knock Knock,’ although Izzo didn’t gain prominence until she starred in the movie ‘After Shocks'. The Chilean-American horror film was produced and written by Eli with director Nicolas Lopez; Eli also starred in the film alongside Lorenza.
The separation comes as surprise since last year Roth seemed to be very much in love with his wife, which was evinced by the sweet message on social media posted to celebrate his wife’s birthday. “No one is more happier than me in this world that you were born” the message read. Even on their trip to Italy, Roth posted a snap of his wife with the caption: 'My favorite view in Italy.' It is not clear what led to the split.
Roth is currently producing 'Haunt', the directorial debut of 'A Quiet Place' writers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. Izzo will now be seen in 'The House With a Clock in its Walls' on September 21. The film is directed by Roth.
