What is 'Mr Ripley' going to be about?

The eight episodes of Ripley mostly follow the plot of the book The Talented Mr Ripley. The series, which centers on Tom as he swindles his way through 1960s New York, sees a wealthy father request his aid to deal with his wandering son, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn). Against his father's wishes, Greenleaf is enjoying the trust fund baby expat lifestyle in Italy. Tom's decision to accept the position marks the beginning of a perilous journey that includes lying, defrauding, and even murder.
