What did Abigail Zwerner state in the interview?

As the 25-year-old teacher appeared on the TODAY show with Savannah Guthrie on Tuesday, March 21, she said, "I’ve been doing okay. You know, it’s been challenging. I’ve gone through a lot of obstacles and challenges. Some days are not-so-good days, where I can’t get up out of bed. Some days are better than others, where I’m able to get out of bed and make it to my appointments. But, you know, for goin’ through what I’ve gone through, I try to stay positive. You know, try to have a positive outlook on what’s happened and where my future’s heading." She further added, "Physical therapy is not only physically exhausting but mentally exhausting as well. I'm supposed to be moving them once every hour throughout the hour. Just manipulating them to get that blood flowing and to get that movement back into the hand," Zwerner said of what she has to do with her hand. Meanwhile, she also stated that her occupational therapy appointments have also left her physically and mentally exhausted, as per NBC.

Zwerner stated that her left hand is still healing from the pain as she still doesn't have full function. This makes the most simple tasks, such as making a fist, opening a water bottle, and getting dressed, extremely difficult for her. Her doctors are still unsure if she will ever regain the full function of the injured hand.

What are the claims of Abigail Zwerner's lawyer?

Zwerner has hired a legal team to sue the district for the incident. "I can tell you there were failures on multiple levels in this case, and there were adults that were in positions of authority that could have prevented this tragedy from happening and did not," said lawyer Diane Toscano. Meanwhile, after the incident, the child's parents claimed that they "have always been committed to responsible gun ownership and keeping firearms out of the reach of children."  They also claimed the boy "has a disability and that he is currently receiving the 'treatment he needs' as a temporary detention at a medical facility." Newport News prosecutor Howard Gwynn informed the media, "Our objective is not just to do something as quickly as possible. Once we analyze all the facts, we will charge any person or persons that we believe we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt committed a crime," as per Daily Mail.
