'Dance Moms: Abby's Virtual Dance Off': Release date, show format, trailer and all you need to know about Lifetime's dance competition

Even the ongoing coronavirus pandemic can’t come in the way of Abby Lee Miller and her passion for dance. With everybody taking to Tiktok to flaunt their dance skills, Abby has decided to take a leaf from the latest trend for the upcoming season of 'Dance Moms' called 'Dance Moms: Abby's Virtual Dance Off'.

Release date

'Dance Moms: Abby's Virtual Dance Off' is set to premiere this summer on Lifetime.

Plot

Unlike the previous season, the contestants won't have to dance in a studio before the judge Abby Lee Miller. For 'Dance Moms: Abby's Virtual Dance Off' the contestants will record a video of themselves performing heir dance routine and submit it to Abby.

Abby will then watch each of these videos and critiques their performances on the show. The winner will be revealed when Abby skype calls the winner whose routine managed to impress her. 

"More than ever, our audiences need those familiar faces they love, and with the explosion of people filming their dance moves to be shared, 'Abby's Virtual Dance Off' provides us the opportunity to bring some of the most talented dancers to the forefront on television," said Gena McCarthy, executive vice president of Lifetime. 

Cast

The details of the contestants haven't been revealed yet. The show will be hosted and judged by Abby Lee Miller. Abby is a renowned choreographer and reality television star. She has her own dance studio called Abbe Lee Dance Studio, which featured in all the earlier seasons of 'Dance Moms'.

In 2016, she was sentenced for a year in prison when she pleads guilty for bankruptcy fraud. Following her release in 2017, Abby developed a form of cancer that left her wheelchair-bound. Despite her health issues, Abby continues pursuing her passion for dance.

'Dance Moms: Abby's Virtual Dance Off' is produced by the Six West Media group in association with Mother Media Group and No More Tears. Steve Ascher, Kristy Sabat and Allie Breslin serve as executive producers for Six West Media. Gena McCarthy and Kim Chessler serve as executive producers for Lifetime.
