New Jersey teacher with STI had sex with 14-year-old student over 15 months, gets busted by her own children
A teacher who had sexually transmitted infection and had sex with her 14-year-old student was busted by her own children, as per reports. According to court documents, 45-year-old Elyse Castillo has been charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, witness tampering, and not informing the victim that she had a venereal disease.
Castillo was a substitute teacher in Jersey City, New Jersey and her relationship with the 14-year-old student lasted over a period of 15 months. According to a report in NY Post, Castillo's children who are 13 and 14 years old confronted their mother about the relationship, saying they were disgusted by "her relationship with a minor".
The children's father reported Castillo to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency and claiming she had abused the two children during the altercation. It was only when this was vbeing investigated that Castillo's relationship with the minor was discovered.
The 14-year-old student told authorities that he met Castillo when he was in the sixth grade in 2018 and said that they were in a relationship. He also said in the complaint that they "would make love". The papers further state that the victim claimed to have performed numerous sex acts on many different occasions at Castillo’s home on Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City.
According to a statement by Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on September 1, "Castillo has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, a first-degree crime; Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4, a second-degree crime; and other third- and fourth-degree crimes. Castillo was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending her first appearance. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pretrial detention of the defendant. A hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2019."
When Castillo appeared for a detention hearing on Thursday, she hung her head down in an attempt to hide her face and confessed to the charges; she faces 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted. While the prosecutors did want her detained, Judge Paul DePascale ordered her released and refrained her from from having contact with any juveniles apart from her own children.
