‘A Teacher’ Episode 5: Claire and Eric go on a secret trip on his birthday, here are 3 people who could find out
Lover or predator? Who is Claire Wilson (Kate Mara) for Eric Walker (Nick Robinson)? The two cross paths in the series ‘A Teacher’ and their innocent bond soon blossoms into an adulterous relationship. In Episode 4, Claire sets some ground rules for the pair. "You cannot tell anyone about us ever," she tells him. "No photos, change my name on your phone. Stick to Mondays. Nothing on school grounds."
Towards the end of the episode, she herself breaks the rule and calls him to meet her. Puzzled, he then asks her, "I want this so much... But I'm just a little confused. But what about your rules? I don't wanna just f**k. I mean I love f**king you. But I like you — a lot. I feel like you're so funny, smart and beautiful. I've never been with someone like you before."
The two have sex but by the time Eric gets home, his mother Sandy Walker (Rya Kihlstedt) is back. She asks him if he's on drugs and doesn't buy his lies. Will she find out about the affair or is it someone else who could get to know? The summary of the next episode reads: "Claire and Eric go away on a secret trip to celebrate his 18th birthday." Matt Nicholas
We already know that the next episode will show Claire and Eric on their secret trip. How will she escape from her home for that getaway? Will Matt Nicholas (Ashley Zukerman) find out about the affair? With Claire seeming distant, Matt has already asked her once earlier if she is okay. At that time, she lied to him and that led to them having oral sex. But will that work again? There's a high chance Matt could find out about the affair sooner or later.
Kathryn Sanders
Remember how in the trailer, we heard Claire opening up about her emotions... “I wanted to feel free... I wanted to do what I wanted for the first time in my life.” Another voice tells her, “He's your student... That's like a monumental abuse of power.” Could it be Kathryn who finds out about the affair?
In the last episode, we saw how Claire and Kathryn were getting close and had even started hanging out with each other at bars. At one of those drinking sessions, Claire could confess her real feelings and take a chance with her thinking she would keep the secret. Their friendship is still too new and Claire may not know how it may rub off the wrong way on Kathryn. Will Claire break her own rule and slip out the huge secret?
Sandy Walker
In the last episode, Eric ditches babysitting to go to meet Claire. He gets back home to see his mother standing there waiting for him. He tries to cover up but she sternly warns him, "Don't lie to me. I called Logan. I know you weren't there. Are you doing drugs?" When Eric acts defensively saying he was barely gone for 10 minutes, she says, "And Phil burned himself." Shocked, he turns around. "What? Is he okay?" Disappointed, his mother says, "What do you care?" After that incident, his mother could try to get behind his lies and find out what he's really up to.
