There is no denying the fact that Rome and Regina Howard (Romany Malco and Christina Moses) deserved a baby after going through the grueling adoption process on the last season of ABC's 'A Million Little Things'. Unfortunately for the couple though, at the end of Season 2, Eve (Ebboney Wilson) who had come on board to give her child, refused to do so leaving both the couple and their ardent fans heartbroken. When they returned to the screens on the premiere night of Season 3 of the series, we see just how Rome and Regina have been dealing with the fallout from Season 2. And it doesn't look good for the couple.

Before Rome and Regina arrived at the mutual decision of wanting to adopt children, they were in different head spaces. Rome was depressed and was contemplating suicide. He thought being a father would give him the chance to be a better human being. Eventually, he pinned a lot of his hopes for a better life on this child. Regina, on the other hand, did not want children at all. Her painfully abusive childhood had dismissed any and all want for a baby. But after a lot of back and forth and very difficult conversations, the couple together arrived at the conclusion that they want a child.

When it all went downhill, Regina blamed Rome for making her want this in the first place. Dismayed over her current state, Regina put the onus on her husband, who himself is treading difficult waters. In Season 3 Episode 1 of the show, we see that tensions between Rome and Regina are higher than ever. When they receive a call about another baby that could be ready for adoption by the end of the day, both find themselves at odds. Rome is ready to grab the opportunity but Regina finds it difficult to just "replace" one child with the other.

This situation is only going to worsen over the course of the season. Differences over children can lead to immense pressure on a couple. Plus their situation is different - how can they mourn the loss of a child that was never theirs?

If this continues, Rome and Regina's marriage is going to hit rock bottom sooner or later. The question is whether they will survive the storm together or find themselves stranded? Episode 2 of 'A Million Little Things' titled 'Writings on the Wall' will air on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 10 pm on ABC.
