'A Million Little Things' Season 3 Episode 2: Gary wants to stay friends with Maggie, here's why that won't last

Gary Mendez (James Roday Rodriguez) wants to remain friends with his ex, Maggie Bloom (Allison Miller). He might be in a new relationship with Darcy (Floriana Lima) but the complicated past the 'A Million Little Things' couple shares is not far away. Gary and Maggie might have moved on the new ventures, especially with the latter moving to Oxford for her career. But a little teaser has us wondering if they will ever be over each other.

At the end of the previous episode, the premiere night of the show's third season, 'A Million Little Things' teased that despite living in two different countries, Gary and Maggie will have some trouble moving on. In a small teaser thay aired after the end of the previous episode, Gary gets short with Maggie and complains that he is aware that she thinks that his new relationship with Darcy is moving too fast. And then promptly hangs up their video call. When Maggie left for London, Gary had gone to the airport to say his goodbyes. They promised that they will remain friends with each other regardless of the new changes in their lives. Only now that they are finally getting to it, they will soon come to realise that their feelings might be a little too complicated for things to go smooth.

Maggie is prone to think that Gary is indeed moving on with Darcy too soon. If Maggie weren't such a disliked character, perhaps even the audience would have shared the feeling. But now many fans think that Darcy is good for Gary. Apparently she's strong headed, smart, knows what she wants and believes in having a mature relationship. So Gary and her should ideally be a smooth sail. But those are exactly the reasons we think she might get done with Gary and Maggie's constant back and forth.

According to the synopsis of the upcoming episode, "Gary navigates trying to stay friends with her while building his relationship with Darcy". There's not a doubt that this is going to be a complicated affair going forward. Are viewers still rooting for Gary and Maggie?

The new episode of 'A Million Little Things' titled 'Writings on the Wall' airs on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 10 pm EST on ABC.
