'A Million Little Things' Season 2 Episode 15: Gary and Maggie have become an insufferable part of the show

The grey area surrounding their relationship is quickly becoming unpleasant for the show's audience

Spoiler alert for Season 2 Episode 15: 'The Lunch' 

After four months of her breakup with Gary Mendez (James Roday), Maggie Bloom (Allison Miller) has finally decided to put herself out there. Well, Eric (Jason Ritter) was briefly in the picture, but his treachery made Maggie vulnerable. And now, putting herself out into the dating world once again is kind of a big deal. That is indicated by a peppy montage of Maggie trying out a closet worth of costumes from the Victorian Era because these days, everyone is going out on dates with a feather tucked under their ginormous purple hat. 

So this date is set to take place in Regina's (Christina Moses) restaurant, where coincidentally, Gary also happens to be. But when he asks if he should leave lest his presence interferes with Maggie's lunch date, she doesn't find the need for it. But she is embarrassed when thirty minutes later, the date [named Larry for comedic effect] doesn't show up. 

Following this, she has a little tiff with Gary. But just as she is about to leave the restaurant, she is sent a bottle of the fanciest of wines. Turns out, Larry sent a bottle to apologize for not showing up to their date. But Maggie figures out that the gesture comes from Gary, who pins the idea on Regina. After she leaves, Regina asks Gary why he simply doesn't tell Maggie how he feels. But since she has made it clear that she would like to only remain friends, Gary doesn't wish to take the matter further. In addition to that, Gary also informs her that after their very emotional breakup, he cannot give their relationship another chance. 

In between fans thinking that the couple has become a redundant part of the show to the makers dragging their story together, Gary and Maggie, who once were lovable characters have become insufferable. Either keep them together or have them part ways forever - this grey area surrounding their relationship is quickly becoming unpleasant for the show's audience. 

'A Million Little Things' airs on Thursdays at 10/ 9c on ABC.
