Great-grandfather, 91, left with shocking injuries after brutal bashing from 8-year-old boy
PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA: A 91-year-old great-grandfather was gravely injured after he was attacked by an 8-year-old boy. The man was seated in his car outside the Cruising Yacht Club in Rockingham, Western Australia, when he was attacked. According to him, an 8-year-old boy ran up to the vehicle and repeatedly punched him on his head before an adult man also appeared and proceeded to attack him again. The man, 37, was later arrested.
The elderly man, named Peter, also stated that he was not able to identify either of his attackers. His family stated that he had never seen the duo before and had not talked to or even met them before the incident took place. In a statement, Peter's family explained that he had just left the Cruising Yacht Club with an 86-year-old female friend and were headed home after enjoying a nice time with friends.

Peter and his friend were able to drive off a little while after. They arrived home shaken from the incident and dialed the police immediately. The family also added that Peter and his friends had been gathering in Rockingham for the past 15 years and had never faced anything nearly similar to this incident.
"Dad and a number of friends get together most Friday nights, at different venues in the Rockingham area, to have a dance, sing-along and catch up. We are all so confused, especially Dad, [about] why the assault has happened. After having stitches to his eyelid, confirmation of several fractures and many appointments for specialists to come, he is a lot more cautious when he is out and about," the man's son stated.
The 37-year-old man who was involved in the attack has now been arrested after he refused to provide details of his identity to the police. The man has been charged with assault resulting in serious bodily harm, refusing to provide personal information, hindering authorities, and disruptive conduct within a police station.
The eight-year-old youngster, who is under WA's legal age of criminal responsibility, has not been charged.
