'90 Day Fiance': Where is Zied Hakimi from? Girlfriend Rebecca Parrott's daughters slammed for culture-shaming
Rebecca Parrott, 49, and Zied Hakimi, 27, despite their 22-year-long age gap, have managed to make their relationship work to a point where they wear t-shirts and have furnishings that have their photos printed on them. It's adorable, in a different way. She is from the US, he's from Tunisia, a North African country. They come from different cultures and speak different languages, but they have been able to look past it. So far, they have been solid except for the lengthy visa process that has tested their patience. But all's well now and the couple's meeting each other in America, where they have 90 days to decide whether or not they want to walk down the aisle
While Rebecca is equal parts excited and nervous, her daughter Tiffany and Micah are very invested in playing the bad cops. They have assumed parental roles to ensure that Rebecca is not hurt or fooled by Zied. In their confessional, the two admitted that they would assess Zied based on how nervous he gets when he meets them because they are generally easy-going people. Rebecca wasn't feeling the idea the whole time and was secretly hoping it would be just her and Zied when they meet for the first time but she couldn't turn Tiffany down because, at the end of the day, they are all going to have to live under the same roof.
When everyone met everyone, it was not awkward but there was nervous energy. One cannot blame Zied given how he was dealing with a lot of newness at once. It's a lot to process. But Tiffany and Micah decided to weigh in with their first impressions of the man and it was not very positive. "I mean Zied's pretty much what we pictured. He seems very nonchalant," Tiffany said of him, while Micah commented: "I just thought he'll be a lot more enthusiastic."
Meanwhile, fans have called Tiffany out for being harsh on Zied so early in their meeting.
"You know Zied has been nervous thru the whole flight & leaving his family. I'm hoping the best for him, hope he gets settled soon. Micha on the other had needs an attitude change! Quickly," a couple commented on the show's Facebook page, while another shared: "Why do we Americans expect foreigners to have the same type of reactions and actions. We are born into completely different cultures. Maybe it's not ok in their culture to be eccentric in the way we are... we need to stop being so judgmental and having so many expectations of people." "He’s not being unenthusiastic, he’s being careful in what he says. He’s also being respectful," another pointed out.
