The Johnstons family has always tried to live in a world that is made for average-sized people. When the show initially started, Amber and Trent Johnston were clear that they would not change anything about their house as the world outside was not made for dwarf people.

The pair thought it would be good to help their children grow in an environment that they will commonly find outside.

They wanted to give them an opportunity to adjust to the situation while making them understand that the world is not always fair. They took pride in this but seeing all their children grown up, Amber knew it was time to change things in the house. She revealed she was tired of having the kitchen made for people average-sized.

She confessed her back had been causing her pain because she had to make use of a table to cook and she was tired of doing it. Trent asked her if she was sure about the change as they had always wanted to have a life that worked around average-sized things.

Amber tried to explain how all the Johnstons children had grown up and it was time for them to think about their future. She admitted it was not possible to continue living like this as they had to start thinking about life when they would get older.

Trent agreed and decided to get rid of all the cabinets in the kitchen. The Johnstons decided to make it a team effort and work together to remove all the cabinets while also breaking all the slabs to make room for a new kitchen.

While the girls seemed to be active, the boys struggled to have the same level of enthusiasm. Trent was not happy with how they behaved and warned them about the consequences. Luckily, he was able to get all of them on board and the family was able to save a lot of money by working together.

Once they were done removing everything from the kitchen, the space paved the way for a new kitchen to come in its place. Even though the family has always lived in a place that was built for average-sized people, it looks like this change will do them good.

'7 Little Johnstons' airs on Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
