This story contains major spoilers for Episode 4 of '68 Whiskey' titled 'Trouble in River City'

After hatching the (not-so) foolproof plan of tying the knot in order to keep Rosa Alvarez (Cristina Rodlo) from getting deported, Cooper Roback (Sam Keeley) and Alvarez are officially married. But the next step is the paperwork and Roback being Roback ends up doing everything he can possibly do to delay the filing of the paperwork, which is just being lazy.

Alvarez doesn't even need to don the wife badge because of the mess that Roback is. Early on in the episode, Roback has lost the letter a dying soldier had passed on to him requesting Roback to post it if he dies in action. Guilt-ridden at his nonchalance of handling the letter, a desperate Roback pens down another one hoping he has conveyed everything that a dying husband could possibly have to share with his wife back home. Little does he know that the letter reads like it was written during the Civil War.

Obviously it is a bad idea to post the letter because the wife will see through it in no time. Dejected, Roback retires to the idea that he has come in the way to two lovers' last communication. However, Alvarez finds the letter stuck underneath the pile of marriage paperwork that Roback hadn't even touched.

Overcome by curiosity, together they read the letter, which turns out to be a version of a stink email you would have received at work. The letter suddenly drives home the point that getting married for love is not the best of ideas. Their friendship is still very much intact and the tag of marriage hasn't affected their rapport. But just yet. We expect oncoming tensions with the growing friendship between Alvarez and Durkin (Gage Golightly).

Elsewhere, Holloway (Beth Riesgraf) is dreading going back home. It is during a phone conversation with her husband that she realizes she doesn't wish to return home to her family. In a bid to avoid going home, Holloway finds a way to earn the trust of the locals (that is being broken by the presence of the Sec Corp). Since the locals are suffering from influenza and typhoid, Holloway proposes establishing a monthly mobile clinic that will help them get the vaccines and medicines at a minimal cost. Now approved, it means that she will have to stay back for months to work alongside locals to win their trust.

But we have different doubts - has Holloway requested an extension in her deployment to maintain a distance from her family or to somehow remain close to Qasem (Omar Maskati)?

'68 Whiskey' airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on Paramount Network.
