6-year-old watches pit bull eat dead father's face for 24 hours, gets rescued after she posted pics on Facebook
The little girl's actions of posting the photos also saved her stepmother's life as she lay unconscious next to her partner's mangled body. The couple had apparently overdosed.
A six-year-old child had to live through an unthinkable nightmare where she was forced to watch a pit bull eat her dead father's face for almost 24 hours before gruesome pictures shared on Facebook aided in her rescue.
The little girl's actions of posting the photos also saved her stepmother's life as she lay unconscious next to her partner's mangled body. The couple was suspected of a possible double overdose in Mount Morris, Michigan. Authorities were able to rescue the girl on Thursday, January 3, evening after the girl's grandmother raised an alarm on seeing the horrific photographs which had been shared on Facebook.
The police revealed that the tiny tot had posted pictures of the father and the unconscious mother. As reported by the Detroit Free Press, the pit bull was eating the 40-year-old man's face. Terence Green, Mount Morris Township's Police Chief, shared, "This six-year-old went through a traumatic event — and she saved a life." Since the horrifying incident, the child has been picked up by her biological mother.
The stepmother was rushed to a hospital where she is reportedly in a stable state but remains in the ICU. She is still not able to fully tell authorities what exactly happened.
According to Terrence, the pair seems to have suffered from an apparent drug overdose though they are awaiting toxicology results. Green also shared that the child's grandmother, who reported the incident, lives in Tennessee and the first officers on scene heard the child screaming.
Green said that the girl told the officer that "the dog was chewing on someone's face". Upon breaking into the home, officers discovered that the girl's father was dead and the stepmother was unconscious for at least 24 hours. It is unclear what drugs were taken and in what quantity they were consumed.
The child was starving and had not eaten for a day and told officers that she had woken up on Thursday and thought her parents were still sleeping. However, they didn't respond to her splashing water on their face and would not wake up. As reported by WNEM, Green shared that detectives are beginning to contact relatives, neighbors, and anyone who may have more information about what exactly happened and determine a timeline of events.
