5 Cosplay costume experts you can pick up designing skills from during the coronavirus lockdown

Stuck at home during the quarantine and stuck on ideas on how to fill your time? We've got a list of cosplayers who provide much-needed info on the craft

Many people stuck at home during the coronavirus quarantine have turned to using their newfound free time to pursue their interests and more time-intensive hobbies such as cosplay.

Cosplay can be one of the most time-consuming crafts of all, but if you have always wanted tips, tricks and advice to make your cosplay really stand out, we have got a list of cosplayers you should be following to help you with all you need to know.

Mzzskittlestr Cosplay

Tiffany, or Mzzskittlestr Cosplay, is a graphic artist and designer as well as cosplayer. You can find her on Facebook here or on Instagram here, where she features tips for creating props, having fun with makeup and gives selfie tips.

Mira Scarlet

Mira Scarlet is a cosplayer, seamstress and livestreamer with a very active online media presence. Her YouTube channel contains many tutorials vital for cosplay, including sewing tips and working with different prop materials.

She livestreams her sewing, making time to answer fan questions, as well as live streaming video games. You can find her various social media websites here.

HeirofGlee

Philicia Deanell, or HeirofGlee, is a cosplayer who offers live tutorials for cosplay make-up and body paint. She has a life Twitch channel here and has cosplayed various characters with unique skin tones, like Starfire and She-Hulk — not characters easily cosplayed, and body paint can be more hassle than it's worth if not done right.

HeirofGlee's live make-up and body paint tutorials are perfect for those looking for a way to safely transform into their favorite characters.

CutiePieSensei Cosplay

CutiePieSensei has appeared on both 'Marvel Becoming' for her Captain Marvel cosplay, and on 'Syfy Wire' talking about her cosplay. You can find links to her social media pages here.

Her Patreon includes both make-up and cosplay tutorials if you support her at the $10 level, though people interested in a sample tutorial can watch her Fem Tanjiro make-up tutorial below.

AllieCat Cosplay

Cosplayer, make-up artist, digital artist, seamstress, and, when she has the time, gamer, AllieCat does it all. She offers tutorials on her Patreon at the $5 level, which includes lessons on how to make prop armor, best uses of painting, wig styling, sewing, make-up tips and more.

Her lessons also include relevant videos, PDF files and instructional images. You can find her linktree here.

All of the above cosplayers, and many more, were recently featured in a #DontRushChallenge video, making the most of their quarantine time, underlining the fact that just because you're stuck at home, there is no reason to not pursue your cosplay dreams.
