It was a tragic day for the people at Highland Park, Chicago, Illinois. Robert "Bobby" E Crimo III was identified as a person of interest and arrested by the police after he allegedly opened fire during the 4th of July parade, killing 6 people and injuring 38. Bobby who was driving a Honda Fit was described as 'wanted' by the FBI in North Chicago. After a short pursuit, Bobby peacefully surrendered to the authorities. The chase for the accused began when the officials thought they spotted a sniper at the scene, which led to a pursuit on foot.

Bobby's mass killing left five out of six victims lifeless at the scene itself, whereas one died in a hospital. Mayor Nancy Rotering commented on the 4th of July parade incident, "This is a terribly difficult day, and the bloodiest that we have experienced in Highland Park. We are fortunate to be supported by our law enforcement community and Federal, State, County, and local government officials." She continued, "Our community, like so many before us, is devastated. It’s impossible to imagine the pain of this kind of tragedy until you’re confronted with it." The incident comes after a series of mass shootings in the United States such as the one in Buffalo and Uvalde that left countless people dead. Gun violence - a mass shooting such as this  casts a much wider net of agony than what the public is typically exposed to."
