Student, 20, raises funds for breast reduction surgery after years of being bullied for natural 32HH breasts
A university student is asking for donations to pay for a £4,000 ($5,414) breast reduction surgery after being compared to a porn star due to her natural 32HH breasts, which reportedly cause her "unbearable" pain.
Aminata Daboh, the 20-year-old student from Birmingham, has finally set up an online fundraiser to pay for the procedure after undergoing "a lot of emotional distress and physical pain throughout her teenage years." The law and business management student explained in a lengthy plea how she struggled to do sports because of her cup size.
Daboh told the Birmingham Mail that her ex-boyfriend's father had once questioned her virginity due to her large breasts. Furthermore, she was often bullied in school as "the girl with the big breasts" and compared to porn stars.
She admitted she tried to get the reduction covered by the NHS, but a male GP reportedly warned her that it was unlikely to be publicly funded. "The pain is unbearable now. Going private and spending thousands of pounds is not something anyone wants to do but this type of pain and discomfort is not bearable," she said. "Bras dig into my torso and shoulders. I can't sleep on my front because it's uncomfortable."
Daboh explained that she was very sporty and energetic as a child, but is now unable to find a bra to support her chest while engaging in strenuous activities. "From when I was in year 6 my breasts started growing at a really rapid rate and by the time I was in year 10 I was a 32JJ which is incredibly big for a 5’2, 14/15-year-old in secondary school," she wrote on her GoFundMe page.
"I was always slightly insecure about my body but as I got older it became worse. Eventually, a family member introduced me to the prospect of breast reduction surgery." Daboh also explained how she lost weight in a bid to reduce the size of her breasts, but in vain. According to her, the reasons for the surgery are purely medical.
"A lot of people think the reason for breast surgeries is for vanity which is not the case here," she said. "On the outside having big breasts looks good to some people however it's a constant weight to carry. I am now 5’4 and have quite a small frame and my breasts are currently a 32H. I have to literally wear a bra with everything and if you’re a girl you already know how agonizing and inconvenient that can be!"
She continued, "It’s also painful because my back is constantly sore and my bra straps do dig into my shoulders and leave indentations." "I can rarely exercise because it is difficult to find a bra that properly supports them without causing strain on my back, shoulders, and rib cage," Daboh added. "I do take light pain killers when I am in pain to help relieve it but it's not something I want to continue doing."
Daboh, therefore, concluded that surgery was her "last option". She had already raised more than £2,000 ($2,700) of her £4,000 target at the time of writing.
