Woman fights for life after face ripped off in attack by atleast 10 stray dogs: 'Only her eyes remained'
A Female nail artist in Russia has been left fighting for her life after a pack of stray dogs attacked her and tore her flesh down to the bone. The incident happened on December 23 in the city of Ulan-Ude when the victim, identified as Tatyana Loskutnikova, was “on the way to the clinic”. The woman was saved by locals who came outside their houses after hearing her horror screams. They then moved her to a house and emergency services were called in. According to The Sun, Loskutnikova’s family said that the brutal attack that happened in -22C temperatures left her face “damaged beyond recognition”.
After the incident, at least ten dogs that ripped off her body and face were shot dead by local police. They are also probing if the canines were infected with rabies. The hospital where the woman is receiving treatment said, “The woman has shreds of flesh all over her body. And only her eyes remained on the face”. "The victim is in intensive care after anti-shock therapy. Surgeons, neurosurgeons, traumatologists, otolaryngologists, and maxillofacial surgeons are all fighting for her life. The patient was delivered to us in an extremely serious condition, suffering hemorrhagic and painful shock,” Dr Igor Shpak, head physician of the Republican Clinical Hospital, said. The doctor also added that the woman had “multiple lacerated and bitten wounds on the face, body, and limbs. The percentage of damage is extremely high. Her blood pressure is extremely low.”
Media reports also quoted a local woman, named Alexandra Andreevna, who saved Loskutnikova. “I heard the screaming and barking of dogs this morning. I got dressed, went out to the cross road to see. There was a backpack lying on the ground. Then I saw a baying pack of dogs and a person lying on the ground. There were about 10 dogs, maybe more. The girl was lying on the ground and by now was no longer screaming. She was conscious, but, apparently, she could no longer scream because of pain,” Andreevna explained.
Reports said that the local residents beat away the canines using a stick. She also hit a fence to scare them before informing her neighbors for help. Andreevna along with another local carried Loskutnikova to a safe place. “We dragged her to my house. She was without any clothes, only in boots. Her body was bitten in places to the tendons and bones. Her face was also bitten, covered in blood. The eyeballs were exposed,” the woman added.
The victim’s brother, Vladislav, also issued a statement that read, “On December 23, on the way to the clinic, my sister Tatyana was attacked by a pack of dogs. As a result, she was taken in an extremely severe condition to the intensive care unit… The bites were deep, to the bone, the soft tissues of her face damaged beyond recognition. Tanya. (Tatyana) is a young and promising girl, she is only 20 years old.” Meanwhile, it has been said that a preliminary criminal investigation has been launched into the case.
