MACON, GEORGIA: A teenager got sentenced to life in prison after strangling his sister to death over an argument about the WiFi password.

Kevon Watkins, 18, who waived his right to a jury trial and chose to have his fate decided by a Bibb County judge was handed down the penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday. He was found guilty of felony murder after he strangled his sister Alexus Breanna Watkins, 20, to death in their Macon home on February 2, 2018.

According to the Macon District Attorney's Office, Kevon, who was 16 at the time of the incident, had changed the WiFi password of the internet service at home so that he could play video games without the rest of his family members using the same and slowing down the network. After this was discovered by his mother, both of them entered into a heated argument, Daily Mail reported.

Afraid that he was going to physically harm their mother, the victim joined in the fight and resulted in getting into a scuffle with her brother. Unable to separate the siblings, their mother ended up alerting the police.

At some point during their tussle, Kevon got his sister into a chokehold and held her down on the ground for approximately 15 minutes. He only released her from his grip once the police raided his home and ordered him to step away from the victim.

Bibb Superior Court Judge Verda M. Colvin said at the sentencing that Kevon's younger brother had also dialed 911, telling the dispatcher that the defender was "crazy."

"When he called, he said the following: 'My brother is trying to hit my mother.' The dispatcher asked, 'Is he on medication.' And the 13-year-old said, 'No. He’s just crazy. He put her in a chokehold, threatening to beat my mom trying to get him off my sister,'" the judge said.

Although paramedics performed CPR on Alexus, they were unable to resuscitate her and she was declared dead on the scene.

Kevon was not charged with manslaughter because he didn't intend to kill his sister. However, he did intentionally place her in a choke-hold, which is considered aggravated assault. "This act of violence resulted in an unspeakable tragedy for this family. I hope this verdict and sentence closes the door on this chapter of their lives and that they will be able to begin to heal," District Attorney David Cooke said.
