A heartbreaking photo released recently showed the baby of a slain father help shovel mud onto his grave as friends and family buried him.

The photo was from Shiregreen Cemetery in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, where 17-month-old Carter Bagshaw held the handle of the shovel that was being used as a friend paid his respects to his late father Lewis Carter who was stabbed to death at 21.

The image was posted by Bagshaw's friend Jordan Kissack who shared the story of the baby and his dad in order to spread awareness about knife crimes in the country.

"Just a little advice for people that carry/use knives and guns. STOP! Today we laid to rest yet another one of my friends today who should still be here but some coward took his life with a knife," he said along with numerous photos from the burial as well as a shot of little Crater sitting on Lewis' shoulders.

He revealed that while the funeral reception was on and clips and pictures of his father were shared, his son saw them and started shouting "Daddy".

"Let that feeling sink in if it was you who was taken from your loving girlfriend and son and friends and family. Imagine the pain they are all going through because somebody took your life that shouldn't have been taken," he wrote in the emotional post.

He urged people to "think" before using a knife or "anything in fact to take somebody's life". The childhood friend of Bagshaw added, "A moment in anger causes a lifetime of pain for others."

According to BBC, Olivia Keeley, Carter's mother, said that their life has changed drastically and overnight. She also said that he had passed his driving test and had been booked for September 24.

He is said to have loved his family and been a complete family man. "Life is just completely the total opposite to how it was, it's really empty and lonely, and there is a lot of sadness as well," she said.

Two people including a minor have been charged for the crime. Jervaise Bennett, also from Sheffield, along with a 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Lewis Bagshaw, according to a report.
