BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA: A shocking 911 call made in 2016 by a resident in Broken Arrow Oklahoma led to the case of Debra Morgan who was found dead in her home. The call was made by a neighbor who said that the son of a next-door neighbor had returned home from school and found his mother dead. A recording obtained by Oxygen's documentary series 'Killer Couples' revealed what Aiden, 12, had told the 911 operator.

Aiden had said, "I just now entered the garage. My dogs were there. They were barking like something was wrong. And then I entered my mom’s bedroom." Aiden's mother, Debra Morgan, 39, was found positioned on the bed and had suffered from a gunshot wound in the head. First responders who had arrived at the scene of the crime said they did not find any signs of a struggle. They revealed that it was likely that Morgan had been killed in her sleep. There had been no sign of any forced entry as there were no broken locks, shattered windows and nothing had been taken from the house.

Aiden also shared how he had lost his house keys while he spent the weekend at his father's house and had to enter his house via the garage. A neighbor had heard a loud pop and the sound of someone leaving Morgan's house between 3 am and 3.30 am. Morgan's friends and family said she had been amid a long and complicated custody battle along with Aiden's father, Rick Spaulding. The couple had separated many years before and Morgan had revealed to family that it had been because of Spaulding's abusive behavior.

Morgan's friend, Keri Wilks, who spoke to 'Killer Couples' and said, "She was in a domestic violent relationship with Rick in the past. Physical abuse and mental abuse, emotional abuse." Around two weeks before Morgan died, the two had an upcoming court hearing in which it had been decided whether he would pay the child support or be sent to jail. The authorities had been informed that the hearing would take place on November 8 just a day after Morgan was murdered. When investigators spoke to Spaulding, he claimed that he had no contact with Morgan outside the courtroom.

Spaulding had also said for the past year he had been seeing another woman, Sonia Weidenfelder, who he is engaged to. Weidenfelder also spoke to the authorities and informed them that most of her income had been used to fund Spaulding's custody battle with Morgan. She confirmed how she had found Aiden's keys to Morgan's house in the laundry which meant that the couple would have had access to Morgan's house. On the day of the murder, Weidenfelder, Spaulding and Aiden had gone to Arkansas and returned home between 9 and 10 pm.

Spaulding later went to visit his friend, Kathy Trevino, who he said had asked for help with some computer issue. Trevino did confirm Spaulding's story but that there had been no computer issues. Trevino said Spaulding had asked her to look after some of his personal items as he conceded that he was probably going to jail the next day. When authorities checked Spaulding's phone, one specific message stood out. Spaulding had written, "Sonia, you are crazy. You need to do as I say or else. You need to apologize to me right now. If you don’t, I’m going to the police and telling them everything."

The investigators uncovered many chilling details on Weidenfelder's phone as well where she had texted him with an idea to poison Morgan and had googled dozens of pictures for a gunshot wound to the face. This was consistent with the injuries on Morgan's face. Spaulding and Weidenfelder were found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
