Sisters Amy and Tammy whose combined weight comes up to 1000lbs knew that they cannot go on with their life like this. The sisters have taken upon themselves the task of losing weight while revealing details about their life that led them to gain weight in the first place. Talking to the camera, the sisters confessed that they did not get affection and love while they were growing up.

Amy revealed that there were times when they were constantly told that they are ugly, fat, stupid and lazy, among the other names that they were called. The sisters confessed that this was mostly from their mother and siblings while their friends and people around them usually joined in.

However, one person that had always been by their side was their grandmother. Tammy added that their grandmother would always support them and was the biggest motivation for them but that did not last long as she passed away when Amy was 10 and Tammy was 11. Since then, the sisters relied on food to make themselves feel better.

To make things worse, Amy is also partially blind that does not allow her to do things like driving. While her marriage life with Michael is good, she feels a hole in her chest because she cannot become pregnant due to her weight. Amy confesses that she feels her heart drops and that a big part of her life is missing because she cannot become a mother.

Michael and Amy dated for four years and married recently but she feels their marriage would be incomplete unless they have a child. Due to her weight, Amy has had high blood pressure and diabetes. Meanwhile, Tammy finds it hard to carry on everyday activities.

Tammy revealed that she is too big to fit in the shower area and to take a bath she has to sit on the commode and wait for Amy to give her a bath. She worries that she is being a burden on her sister but feels helpless to make a difference.

However, after living like this for years, the sisters decide to turn their life around and take charge. Amy and Tammy make the decision of working out to shed their weight.

'1000-lb Sisters' airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
