10 wild conspiracy theories Donald Trump has promoted
Donald Trump is no stranger to spreading wild conspiracy theories
Donald Trump has made a plenty of wild claims throughout his political career. While most of the conspiracy theories are propagated through "retweeting" the posts made by someone else, in some instances, Trump has also made baseless claims in his campaign stops as well.
Autism caused by vaccines
The 45th President of America has often linked the rise in autism with childhood vaccines. In one such instance, he tweeted in March 2014, "Healthy young child goes to doctor, gets pumped with massive shot of many vaccines, doesn't feel good and changes - AUTISM. Many such cases!"
Windmills cause cancer
Trump has not only linked vaccines with autism but also connected windmills to cancer. During his speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual spring dinner, he said in 2019, “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer,” per The Hill. American Cancer Society, however, debunked the theory.
Former president Barack Obama still controls the White House
During a speech in his campaign stop in New Hampshire on October 9, Trump insinuated that Barack Obama still controls the White House. He said, “It’s never been worse than it is now under crooked Joe Biden and, frankly, his boss, Barack Hussein Obama,” before adding, “I think it’s his boss,” per NBC News.
Multiple bombings happened on 9/11
Before becoming the POTUS, Trump gave an interview with WWOR-TV where he said that World Trade Center had strong walls and just planes couldn't have brought the structure down. He said, "I happen to think that not only did they have a plane, they had bombs exploded almost simultaneously," before adding, "I just can't imagine anything being able to go through that wall," per OK! Magazine.
People cheering in New Jersey about 9/11
Another popular claim of the real estate mogul's claims about the 9/11 tragedy was that he watched many people in New Jersey cheering as the Twin Towers collapsed. He said in Alabama in 2015, “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, NJ, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering,” per The New York Times.
Osama Bin Laden's killing was staged by Barack Obama and Joe Biden
Trump retweeted a post which claimed Osama Bion Laden's death was "staged". He claimed President Barack Obama and VP Joe Biden and the SEAL Team 6 had, in fact, killed one of Laden's body doubles. Former Navy SEAL, Robert O’Neill, who was reportedly the one to kill the Al Qaeda chief, debunked the theory by tweeting, “Very brave men said goodbye to their kids to go kill Osama bin Laden. We were given the order by President Obama. It was not a body double. Thank you Mr. President,” per Factcheck.
Jeffrey Epstein did not kill himself
After the financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died in federal prison in 2019, Trump retweeted a post where it was written, "[Epstein] had information on Bill Clinton & now he's dead. I see #TrumpBodyCount trending but we know who did this! ... #EpsteinSuicide #ClintonBodyCount #ClintonCrimeFamily." Trump's amplification of tweet helped popularizing the conspiracy theory of the Clintons being involved in Epstein's death, per OK! Magazine.
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough linked to aide's death
Trump once theorized the MSNBC host Joe Scarborough was connected to the death of his employee Lori Klausutis in 2001 after he posted on X, "A blow to her head? Body found under his desk? Left Congress suddenly? Big topic of discussion in Florida...and, he’s a Nut Job (with bad ratings). Keep digging, use forensic geniuses!"
Ted Cruz's father and John F Kennedy's assassination
During a telephonic interview with Fox News, Donald Trump cited a National Enquirer story about Ted Cruz's father, Rafael Cruz, meeting with John F Kennedy's killer, Lee Harvey Oswald and sharing pro-Fidel Castro pamphlets before the killing. He said, "His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald's being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous," before adding, "What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don't even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it."
Joe Biden and SEAL Team 6
Following his retweets on Osama Bin Laden's body double getting killed in the American mission in Abbottabad in Pakistan in 2011, Trump also retweeted a conspiracy theory post claiming "Biden and Obama may have had Seal Team 6 killed," as a cover up for the botched mission, per OK! Magazine.
