'Owning Manhattan' star Jordan Hurt quit his job to travel the world during the COVID-19 pandemic

Jordan Hurt, originally from Ohio, is a dedicated traveler who loves attending live music events and playing guitar. Along with his passion for exploring new places, he also volunteers at the LGBTQ Center in New York City.

In December 2019, Jordan went skydiving over the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica and then went for a swim in the Pacific Ocean to cool off. While swimming, the 36-year-old realized that he needed a break from the busy city of New York.

Jordan spent almost ten years in NYC and worked as an assistant to Ryan Serhant from 'Million Dollar Listing New York'. After some time, he started questioning if the hectic lifestyle in the city was really making him happy.

“The answer was no. As I was in the ocean … I just looked around and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s this. This is what I want,' " he told the New York Post.

After returning to the city in January, he started planning a year-long backpacking trip around the world. But as his July departure date approached, he encountered various obstacles due to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic in the United States starting in March.

The CDC recommended avoiding unnecessary travel, and most countries around the world have closed their borders to travelers from the US. He initially struggled with the idea of being in quarantine but eventually realized he needed to remain optimistic and find ways to make it work.

Jordan was determined to go on a trip he had planned for a long time and had already prepared by setting aside time and money. He felt that it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and didn't want to wait any longer. He believed that if he had waited, his life would have been very different.

Starting in London, he quarantined for 14 days before moving to Paris. He had to change his plans multiple times due to COVID-19 restrictions. Initially planning to start in Guatemala, he rerouted to Europe instead.

Jordan Hurt recently shared his enthusiasm on Instagram for the debut of Netflix's latest show 'Owning Manhattan', which chronicles Ryan Serhant and his team of top-tier agents as they navigate the cutthroat world of luxury real estate in New York City.

With eight episodes dedicated to showcasing their relentless drive to secure the most coveted listings, rival brokerages should beware, as this group will go to any lengths to solidify their dominance in the industry.

"4 days until the series premiere of Owning Manhattan on Netflix!! 🎥 I am so excited for the world to finally see what we’ve been up to with this project. It is truly a labor of love mixed with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears," he wrote.

The real estate agent added, "Owning Manhattan gives a look inside the glamorous, adrenaline-filled universe of high-stakes real estate in New York City. My boss of 10 years, world famous broker and CEO Ryan Serhant, and an ambitious army of agents including myself will stop at nothing on our mission to become the #1 brokerage in the world."
