TOPEKA, KANSAS: A campaign ad released by Republican Kris Kobach, the party's nominee for Kansas attorney general, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, showed a clip of pro golfer Tiger Woods’ 2017 DUI arrest with the tag "no capital punishment for cop killers." The ad in question is titled "Just Intentional", which along with Woods also included the Carr brothers, two convicted murderers currently on death row.

In the 30-second ad, Kobach slammed his Democrat opponent Chris Mann, a former Lawrence Police Department officer and prosecutor who is now in private practice, over his opposition to capital punishment, states DailyMail. The ad narrated, "But if Chris Mann gets his way, there will be no capital punishment for cop killers." However, the ad played a dashcam video of Woods, widely considered one of the best golfers of all time, being arrested in 2017 and held by two Florida sheriff's deputies. While Woods, who was led away in handcuffs about 24 minutes into the original video, was initially booked for driving under the influence, he eventually pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving and was given probation. The clip of Woods also appeared in the original documentary about Jonathan and Reginald Carr, two brothers convicted of multiple killings in Wichita, which is posted to YouTube

Fox News reached out to Kobach's campaign for the blunder and spokesperson Danedri Herbert told the outlet, "That was an ad agency error. We caught it and fixed it within minutes. What a happy accident that media is going to pick this up and expose Chris Mann as a soft-on-crime liberal Democrat who will let cop killers and mass murderers off easy for their heinous crimes." The new ad has now removed Woods and modified it with another clip.

According to CJOnline, Mann's spokesperson, Kelli Kee, tagged the ad as "absolutely false and deceptive." The spokesperson said, "Not only does it feature Tiger Woods getting arrested as a cop killer, which we all know is false. It also contains multiple lies about Chris Mann. Lies like this shouldn’t be on TV. He needs to take down the ad. Chris Mann is a former cop who was injured in the line of duty. Kris Kobach has no shame in the lies he’ll tell to win political power.”
