The last spot in the final three came down to a fire challenge between Tony and Sarah. The duo have been in alliance for the past couple weeks on 'Survivor: Winners at War' Season 40. But tonight we saw the end of the alliance when the two were pitted against each other for the last spot in the final three.

'Survivor: Winners at War' Season 40 returned on Wednesday night for its epic three-hour finale. At the end of the episode, only one lucky castaway will walk away with the $2M jackpot and the title of the greatest 'Survivor' player in history.

Picking up right where they left off last week, Edge of Extinction contestants returned to the main island for the last challenge that helped one of them get back in the game.

Natalie Anderson was the first contestant to get sent to EoE, but she managed to work hard and earn three advantages which helped her win the challenge and get back in the game.

Once in the game, she started to target Tony, formed an alliance with Michele and won the final immunity challenge which gave her the duty of deciding if she would take part in the fire challenge or will she stay on castaway and send the other two against each other.

After an entire day of pondering, Natalie decided to save Michele and put Sarah and Tony against each other in the fire challenge for the last spot. Tony and Sarah have formed an alliance and been working together for the past couple of weeks.

However, after Natalie entered the competition again, Sarah decided its time to step up and prove that she isn't a sidekick but equally good at the game like Tony and if he wins it's because she helped him out as well.

Sarah and Tony had a lot of respect for each other, but at the tribal council, their alliance came to an end with the fire challenge. It was cop vs cop and a nail-biting challenge.

Though Sarah had the lead at first when her fire rose higher than Tony's she made the mistake of putting in an extra husk which diminished it a little giving Tony the lead.

Tony managed to cut the rope ahead of Sarah securing the last spot in the finale three. Though their alliance might have come to an end, fans on Twitter affirm it was a great challenge to watch.

"I am so happy that Tony won that fire-making challenge. But Sarah such a rockstar and strong woman. Cops R Us for life with sunglasses #Survivor #SurvivorFinale," a fan said.

Another added, "Well that was the ideal outcome, although I would have liked an upset, the storytelling of this narrative was incredible. I didn't love Sarah, but the Cops R Us alliance was great to watch. #survivor #SurvivorFinale."

"Can Sarah and Tony please move to the same city so Cops R Us can become real??? #SurvivorFinale," a fan wrote while another said, "Sarah and Tony are goals #SurvivorFinale Cops R Us. Let’s go Tony!!"

'Survivor: Winners at War' Season 40 airs every Wednesday night on CBS. Check your local listings for more information.
