Lara Spencer has made a lot of people angry and faced a strong backlash for laughing at Prince George's love of ballet on 'Good Morning America' earlier this week. She has now apologized to Prince George for her remarks.

On August 22, while she was discussing the curriculum at the six-year-old Prince George's school, Spencer shared that apart from math and reading, the young prince will also take part in religious studies, computer programming, poetry and ballet which sparked laughter from the host and their audience.

"Details of George's curriculum have been released, making us all really happy we don't have to do homework anymore," she said. "In addition to the usual first or second-grade things like math, science and history, the future king of England will be putting down the Play-Doh to take on religious studies, computer programming, poetry and ballet, among other things."

Adding to that the mother-of-two quipped, "Prince William said, 'George absolutely loves ballet'. I have news for you, William. We’ll see how long that lasts." After the show, viewers and other celebrities took to social media and accused Spencer of bullying and shaming Prince George.

Travis Wall, the artistic director of 'So You Think You Can Dance' took to Instagram and posted a video condemning Spencer for her reaction. "You’ve now added fuel to the fire to a massive problem in this country, which is bullying… The next time you want to laugh at a child for taking a dance class or laugh at them at all, look at yourself in the mirror and ask do you want to be a bully today?'" he said.

"Okay, Lara Spencer, seriously? Laughing at boys who take ballet? What's up with that? C'mon, Lara Spencer. Please… It's like bullying on national TV. Boys who take ballet are cool," Rosie O'Donnell said in a video she posted on Twitter.

"Lara Spencer on @GMA mocked six-year-old Prince George of the UK for taking ballet class. It shows that 'toxic masculinity' can be spread viciously by insensitive women too. As a fellow 'George' and lover of dance, I am very troubled and disappointed by her actions," George Takei wrote.

After receiving massive backlash, Lara Spencer took to her Instagram profile and offered a mea culpa to Prince George saying, "My sincere apologies for an insensitive comment I made in pop news yesterday. From ballet to anything one wants to explore in life, I say GO FOR IT. I fully believe we should all be free to pursue our passions. Go climb your mountain and love every minute of it."
