KENOSHA, WISCONSIN: A man from Wisconsin, who confessed to using a machete to kill his father and stepmother after inappropriately touching his stepsister while she slept, has been sentenced to life in prison.

On Monday, November 27, Jesus V Medrano III, aged 27, received his sentence in a Kenosha County courtroom, as reported by Law&Crime.

Jesus V Medrano III: The crime scene

According to court documents, police responded to a call on January 6, 2021, at a home in the 900 block of 46th Street in Kenosha.

Two children were discovered alive, with one of them having been choked by Medrano III. The other child informed the officers that the defendant was responsible for killing their parents.

Authorities found the lifeless bodies of Jesus Medrano II, aged 49, and Latrice Meyers-Medrano, aged 26, in a bedroom, both victims having been fatally slashed.

The scene was "gruesome", with blood all over the floor and walls.

A law enforcement officer characterized the scene as "the most horrific thing I have ever witnessed in my career."

The arrest and confession of Jesus V Medrano III

Subsequently, officers located Medrano III at a nearby residence, where he had reportedly knocked on the door.

They tracked his blood-stained footprints in the snow to a cellar, where he was found sitting with a machete in his hand. He expressed to them, "Just kill me."

In an interview with the police, Medrano III confessed that he had touched his stepsister inappropriately while she was sleeping and brought a machete into the room in case his father confronted him.

He said he tried to silence her with a pair of socks when she woke up and threatened to tell her mom.

He proceeded to strangle her until his father entered the room, using the light from a cell phone to inquire about the situation.

In response, he answered, "nothing," and proceeded to stab his father in the stomach. He then leaped over him to assault his stepmother, who had also entered the room.

He claimed that he accidentally stabbed himself in the thigh during the struggle. Following the incident, he fled the house.

“I just snapped,” he told the police. “I don’t know why I did it."

Jesus V Medrano III: sentence and plea

On September 22, Medrano III entered a plea of guilty to first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree sexual assault, both involving the use of a dangerous weapon.

The court dismissed charges of first-degree intentional homicide and child abuse with a high likelihood of causing significant harm.

On Monday, he received a life sentence in prison with no chance of parole.
