'Yellowstone' season 3: Release date, plot, cast, trailer, news and everything else about the Paramount family drama

On Wednesday, June 19,  Paramount Network announced that 'Yellowstone' has been renewed for a third season.

Paramount's 'Yellowstone' starring Kevin Costner will return to the network on June 19 this year with its second season. The trailer for the second season of the drama series promises a lot of intense action.

The latest sneak peek into the second season of the show opens with Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) saying, "I think heaven's right here... so is hell." The teaser shows that it only gets crazier from there as it cuts to show us Kayce (played by Luke Grimes) looking concerned, and then the carnage breaks loose.

Release date

There are no details about the plot and the release date since the show has just started telecasting its second season.

Plot

There are no details about the new season 3 plot since the show has just started telecasting its second season.

Currently, 'Yellowstone' follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders—land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny—where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

Costner plays the role of John Dutton, the sixth generation patriarch of the Dutton family. The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. As the head of the family, he is confronted with the challenge of defending his land from those who want to take it away from him. Costner is known for his roles on the big screen especially in 'The Bodyguard' and 'Hidden Figures'. He explained that is was the "real people" and real stories that attracted him to 'Yellowstone'.

"The idea of seeing wide open spaces, when the land was almost like the Garden of Eden," Costner was reported saying when asked why he decided to work on the series. "I think that we see a lot on TV and really great TV. To know that places like this still exist in our country, adding drama against its backdrop, and actually understand in the most real terms that the meat that arrives on our table is still coming from somewhere. It's coming from people that are getting up early in the morning and work really late."

Costner has won accolades for his performances that include two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, one Primetime Emmy Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton

Trailers

The trailer for the Paramount Network hit show is full of familiar faces: Kayce, Jaime, Beth, Thomas, Monica and Rip. We can't be too sure, but at some point in the trailer, it appears that the young Dutton son and Rip are beating each other to a pulp — we'll know the reason behind this when the show returns.

To make matters more interesting, Neal McDonough makes a prominent appearance in the trailer in a threatening role. Also judging from the trailer, it looks like Kayce is going to follow his father's footsteps — given the fact that he let a man hang towards the end of season one, this isn't surprising to us.

Where to watch

The second season for 'Yellowstone' will air on Paramount Network from June 19, 2019, onwards.
