Cooking is not just an art but a science which needs to be studied, observed, and understood to get desired results. And it is not everyone’s cup of tea. Those who cannot do justice to the art, end up qualifying for this show. The mentor chefs train these people and turn them into prospective cooks and help them leave their kitchen nightmares behind them.

Release Date

The show first dropped on Food Network on January 2010 and has been running successfully for 18 years. The 18th and the latest season of ‘Worst Cooks In America’ will premiere on January 5, 2020.

Plot

The show follows 16 amateurs with very poor cooking skills and trains them via a culinary boot camp. The recruits, or as they are called are trained on knife skills, baking and cooking techniques, prepping, plating, seasoning, and so on. With every episode, as each of the contestants makes a baseline dish, they are judged on their basic skills and their levels of improvement. Based on the output, the contestants are then eliminated one by one. The final challenge of the journey is to prepare a high-end, three-course meal for the judges and food critics who visit as judges. The contestant who emerges as a seasoned cook and displays the best culinary skills is awarded a cash prize of $25k and a Food Network cooking set.
