LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amazon Prime Video's hit superhero series 'The Boys' has both excited and saddened fans with recent updates. Well, the exciting news is that 'The Boys' will see one more season. 

For the unversed, the show follows a group of vigilantes called 'The Boys' as they confront corrupt superpowered individuals, led by the villainous Homelander, played by Anthony Starr.

'The Boys', which premiered in 2019, is about a world where a big superhero company, Vought, controls everything. The show follows the fight between regular people called 'The Boys' and powerful superheroes who have ruined their lives. The cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, and others.

The Emmy-winning show is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.

There were early predictions that the upcoming season of 'The Boys' would be its last. Amazon renewed the show for Season 5 just before show creator Kripke and the cast started promoting Season 4, which premiered with three episodes on June 13.

Showrunner Eric Kripke announced on June 11, on X that Season 5 will be the final season. He shared a screenshot of the redacted script for the Season 4 finale, saying, "Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought."

Kripke is thrilled to bring the story to a dramatic and exciting conclusion. He continued: "Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!"

Why is 'The Boys' Season 5 the final season for the Emmy-winning show?

Showrunner Eric Kripke shared in the previous tweet that ending the series after its fifth season was always his intention.

Despite Prime Video showing interest in continuing the show, Kripke remained firm about concluding the story well.

He appreciated Prime Video's respectful approach in accepting their decision to end the series on their own terms.

What's next for 'The Boys' universe?

'The Boys' has led to several spinoff projects on Amazon. These include the animated anthology 'The Boys Presents: Diabolical' and the live-action superhero college series 'Gen V', which is filming its second season.

Additionally, two other projects are in the works: one set in Mexico and another recently announced by Kripke, as reported by Variety.
