LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The survivors of Hollywood Week on 'American Idol' had no time to recuperate as they took the stage for the Showstoppers round. Before the all-important Final Judgment, contestants had to impress Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. They performed in front of an audience, accompanied by a band. After their performance, the contestants met with the judges to find out if they had advanced to the next round.

In a tragic turn of events, fans were forced to say goodbye to this season's most talked-about contestant, Fire Wilmore, and they are not happy about it. Most took to Twitter to criticize both the judges and the show's creators, questioning why they would hype a contestant so much, only to eliminate her later.

Fire met with the judges to hear about her chances in the competition. "You have grown faster, maybe than we thought," Katy told the single mother. "You have fought tooth and nail," she added.

Fire informs Katy that she has grown faster than they expected. Katy, she believes, is on her side. All the judges think she has potential. Her duet partner, Kaya Stewart, had to withdraw from the competition due to illness. Her stage presence is strong, but she has some difficulties in the higher registers. She needs more experience, but she has what it takes.

"We have learned from you," Luke said. However, she is not advanced to the following round. "It's the end of the American Idol journey," Katy told Fire. "But truthfully, your fire is never going out," she added.

Despite the young mother's progress, Fire will not be moving on to the Top 24. "I'm not OK with going home," Fire exclaimed.

'NEVER been more disappointed with American Idol'

Calling out the makers of show and the judges, a fan wrote, "I have NEVER been more disappointed with American Idol. They gave Fire a standing ovation on her Showstopper performance. So, WHY? and WTF were they thinking? If anyone deserved to be in the Top 24, it is Fire! Please reconsider and make it a Top 25???" Another person asked, "How did I KNOW #AmericanIdol wouldn't end up choosing Fire after ALL THAT TIME telling her story..." Another chimed in, "shock they cut her after giving fire so much tv time .. #americanidol .. dont think its over yet." Calling her the season's main character, a fan wrote, "I know she’s super hyped up as this season’s main character for some reason but Fire just is not good. Sorry. She sounds so plain. Not a performance of hers I’ve enjoyed much. I know they’ll keep her on as long as they can but there’s so many better contestants."
