Why did Lindsay Shiver call 911? Ex-football star's wife accused of murder plot was denied private jet by husband to meet BF
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Lindsay Shiver, a former Alabama beauty queen, is facing charges of conspiring to kill her estranged husband, Robert Shiver, a former college football star.
The alleged murder plot was uncovered by the police in the Bahamas, in July where the couple had a vacation home.
Why did Lindsay Shiver call 911?
According to police bodycam video obtained by Fox News and other media outlets, Lindsay and Robert had a heated argument on July 15 at their $2.5 million mansion in Thomasville, Georgia.
Lindsay wanted to use their private jet to fly to the Bahamas and meet her lover, Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28. Robert, who was planning to take their three children to their vacation home on the island of Great Guana Cay, refused to let her join them.
He told the officers from the Thomasville Police Department that he did not want his wife to leave their children as soon as they landed to spend time with another man.
He said it would confuse and hurt them. “I told her, ‘I’m not supporting that. You’re not getting on the airplane,’” Robert said in the bodycam footage.
“‘That will mess with the kids’ heads, and it’s just something we are not going to do," he added.
Did Lindsay accuse Robert of being aggressive and physically violent?
Lindsay, 36, accused Robert, 38, of being aggressive and physical with her. She said he pushed her and prevented her from using their plane.
“That doesn’t mean you get aggressive, push me out of the way,” she said. Robert denied pushing her or being abusive. He said they were in the middle of a divorce and he had filed for custody of their children.
Lindsay told the police that she called 911 because she feared that the situation would escalate. She said living with him during their divorce was “hell on Earth.”
An officer suggested that they should not travel together and told Lindsay that she would need more evidence to prove that Robert was violent.
When did Lindsay get arrested?
Five days later, Lindsay was arrested in the Bahamas along with Bethel and an alleged hitman, Faron Newbold Jr, 26, for allegedly plotting to murder Robert.
The police discovered their supposed murder-for-hire scheme after investigating a break-in at Grabber’s Bar and Grill on Great Guana Cay, where Bethel worked.
They found text messages between Lindsay, Bethel, and Newbold that allegedly discussed the plan to kill Robert.
Did Robert Shivers initiate a divorce filing this year?
According to court documents, Robert filed for divorce in April after finding out that his wife was having an affair with Bethel.
He also accused Lindsay of being an unfit mother and a drug addict.
Lindsay, a former Alabama beauty queen, was released on August 9 on $100,000 bond from the notorious Fox Hill prison in Nassau after spending 19 days in custody.
She has to check in three times a week, wear a GPS ankle monitor and remain in the Bahamas.
Bethel and Newbold were also released on $20,000 bond each. All three are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
