Eva Green has officially joined the cast of Netflix's hit show 'Wednesday'. Green, well-known for her incredible acting in films like 'Dark Shadows' and 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children', will be playing Aunt Ophelia in season 3 of the supernatural mystery series. Recently, Netflix made the big announcement with an official Instagram post. The streamer posted a small clip from the season 2 finale, where Ophelia, Morticia Addams's allegedly missing sister, was introduced. The caption of the post read, "Woefully welcoming Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia to Wednesday Season 3."

During an interview with Tudum by Netflix, 'Wednesday' showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar candidly spoke about casting Green to play the role of Ophelia. The duo shared, "Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen — elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We're excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday’s world." Green, too, shared her excitement, saying, "I'm thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can't wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family."

Later in the interview, Millar quipped, "Ophelia has been gone a long time. It's left a hole in Morticia's life and a lot of unanswered questions. The reemergence of Ophelia is going to hit this family like a bomb." Meanwhile, Gough went on to say, "It was always the plan to give viewers a glimpse of her at the end of the season in a way that they weren't expecting, and then that's a driver into season 3.” Green is the first major addition to the show's cast for season 3. Up until now, no further details about the third season of the show have been revealed by the streaming platform.

As soon as Netflix announced Green's addition, fans flocked to the comments section of the Instagram post to express their excitement. One social media user wrote, "This is actually perfect casting. Eva Green is so amazing. I'm obsessed." A second user penned, "So freaking excited! Season 3 here we come!!" Another netizen remarked, "Yes, yes, and yes! So excited to see Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia." A fourth user commented, "Tim Burton always picks the best people."
