SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Zhanyuan Yang crashed into the Chinese consulate in San Francisco on October 9.

He had a knife in his hand when he got his vehicle smashed into the lobby of the consulate’s visa office.

Zhanyuan Yang was 'looking' for CCP
The man was captured shouting, “Where is the CCP?” This was referring to the Chinese Communist Party, as per the San Francisco Standard.

The police have released the bodycam video, where he was shot dead by the officer.

A bystander also captured the moments he was gunned down before the Chinese national scuffled with security guards and tried to remove objects from the blue Honda.

“So a car ran into the Chinese Embassy and the guy has a gun,” a 911 caller said at around 3 p.m. “The car broke into the building, drove through the lobby, and the guy has a gun.”

911 callers alerted authorities about Zhanyuan Yang's crashing

A caller also said that security guards were fighting with the driver after he crashed into the building. “It is on purpose,” another 911 caller told the authorities.

“Please send us SWAT as soon as possible,” a caller is heard pleading, reports NYP.

According to the bodycam footage shows Sgt. Troy Carrasco is seen running into the building and confronting the suspect.

The Chinese man was covering his face with pepper spray that was used by the security guard before cops arrived.

The sergeant pushes Yang against a wall as he yells: “I will never surrender!”

Yang then turns around and swings a knife before Carrasco shoots, as shown in the video.

“The guy should have told me he had a knife,” the sergeant, who has been working in the department since 1994, is heard saying later.

Police also discovered a crossbow in the back of the Honda, as per the outlet. The response was handled like an “active attacker” situation, Police Chief Bill Scott said.

“If we believe that we have an active attacker event, we will do everything possible to stop that threat immediately so that we don’t have a loss of life,” the cop said in the virtual meeting.

Yang’s purpose in the attack is still unclear as the investigation continues. He established a communications firm while attending college in China in 2012.

“The impression we had about him was that he didn’t quite like to socialize,” said the fellow former student, a Chinese national.
