QUINCY, ILLINOIS: A former ‘Family Feud’ contestant will now be serving not one but three life imprisonments after being found guilty of taking the life of his estranged wife, who was an award-winning nurse.

Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, was shot 14 times by Tim Bliefnick, 40, in February 2023. The man had reportedly filed for divorce two years ago.

The Friday, August 11, sentencing came after Tim was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion.

Judge Robert Adrian told Tim, as per People, “You researched this murder. You planned this murder. You practiced this murder. You broke into her house and you shot her ... 14 times. …”

“Some of those shots were fired while she was lying on the ground and you did all of that while your children were upstairs at your house, lying snug in their beds,” the judge added.

Tim Bliefnick was slammed by Rebecca’s mother

Victim impact statements were read out in court ahead of the verdict with the late woman’s mother Bernadette, saying, “When you murdered Becky you took from your boys the person who loved them the most on earth.”

“Becky’s family, friends coworkers, and patients will never again see her smile, hear her laugh, feel her embrace or receive her love. We are left with an emptiness that cannot be filled,” she reportedly shared.

Bernadette also added, “We are only left with memories. Your soul is black with hate. Your heart has only love for itself. You should never be allowed to be free again.”

Tim Bliefnick’s appearance on 'Family Feud'

Tim and his family reportedly went on ‘Family Feud’ more than two decades ago and when host Steve Harvey asked him, “What's the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?”

“Honey, I love you, but, ‘said I do.’ Not my mistake, not my mistake — I love my wife. I'm gonna get in trouble for that, aren't I?” he said at the time, as per Fox News.

Who was Rebecca Bliefnick?

According to her obituary, Rebecca attended Payson Seymour Elementary School followed by Quincy Notre Dame High School, where she was named valedictorian.

She graduated cum laude from Quincy University with a bachelor’s degree in biological science with a minor in chemistry and worked for Sanofi Aventis as one of their top-performing pharmaceutical sales representatives.

The obituary read, "Becky always envisioned herself working hands-on in the medical profession."

Further adding, "It was no surprise when she left pharmaceuticals for a career in nursing—her true calling—where she was able to provide care and comfort to people on a daily basis."

The obituary for the mother-of-three remembered her as someone, who “cherished-a life of compassion, generosity, faith, and fierce love for her family.”

It continued, “Becky always envisioned herself working hands-on in the medical profession, so it was no surprise when she left pharmaceuticals for a career in nursing.”

“As dedicated as she was to her professional pursuits, her most profound devotion was to her family. Her boys were her world, her life's greatest gifts. She was the quintessential ‘boy mom’,” the eulogy read.
