Sergio Brown was reported missing by his brother Nick
Following Myrtle's death, her son Sergio was reported missing by his brother Nick Brown.
The 35-year-old former footballer traveled to Mexico from where he posted a series of clips to his social media. Before Brown was arrested, he was deported on Tuesday, October 10.
Amid the ongoing police investigation and the family tragedy, Sergio was spotted at a beach club in Tulum, appearing carefree and dancing with scantily-clad women.
Sergio Brown previously claimed he was 'kidnapped twice'
In a video shared on social media, Brown can be heard saying he believed his mother had gone on vacation.
"Fake news. It has to be the FBI, they came into my house...unwarranted," Brown said in the video in which he tagged ESPN.
"They kidnapped me twice from home, the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood Police. I thought my momma was on vacation."
"That's f*****g fake news. Get the f**k out my goddamn face. FBI had to do it, they got the power to do some s**t . What the f**k is going on, that is fake news. Don't come f*****g with me," he concluded the clip.
The last time Brown and his mother were last seen together was on August 25 as they left their Maywood home to attend a family reunion in Mississippi.
However, they never arrived at their destination.
What was Myrtle Brown's cause of death?
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office determined Myrtle's death a homicide after they concluded from the autopsy that she suffered assault-related wounds.
Speaking to WGN, the victim's sister Sheila Simmons said the last time she spoke to Myrtle was on September 14, two days before her body was found.
On September 14, Simmons showed up at the Maywood home after she received the call that her sister and nephew were reported missing.
"We're going to find out what happened because it's not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text messages," Simmons told WGN.
"People have been reaching out to her since Friday. No one was able to reach her," Simmons said.
"Now, I got the call this morning saying that she's missing, so immediately I came out here and find out my sister is dead," she added at the time.
