LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Five-year-old Kamari Jordan Wolfe died on October 6 after a van hit him while his mother dropped him off at a school in North Las Vegas.

According to a post on GoFundMe, Wolfe was "run over multiple times after initially being hit by a work van." A statement by the North Las Vegas police said the van struck Wolfe around 7:50 am while he was crossing the schoolway after climbing out of his mother's car.

The van's driver, Guillermo Chochi Senobua, 41, who stayed at the site of the fatal incident, was booked into North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center.

Who was Kamari Jordan Wolfe?

Wolfe, known as KK among his family and friends, was a kindergartener at Somerset Academy, a charter school in North Las Vegas. His grandmother, Kari Schultz, recalled Wolfe as a child full of life.

"He never met a stranger. He wasn't shy at all. He talked to everybody. He gave people hugs and he squeezed them so tight, you know, he just wouldn't let go," she told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to the University Medical Center.

Around 100 people-including the family participated in the Friday night vigil organized at his school.

Fundraiser to help Wolfe's family passes $32K

Donations have been pouring into the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to help the child's mother, Jasmyn Wolfe, a single mother, and his two siblings, who are 7 and 1.

According to the GoFundMe website, $32K has been raised till now.

"All donations are welcomed and will be used to lay the KK to rest, but also to help Jasmyn provide for her and her two other children during this time of unspeakable grief and hardship," said Wolfe's aunt Tracy Wolfe-Coleman, who organized the online fundraiser.

NLVPD said the van driver, Senobua, did not seem intoxicated, remained at the scene, and cooperated with the investigation procedures. The accused voluntarily agreed to do a blood draw and showed no signs of impairment.

Senobua already had a DUI warrant out of Texas. He was booked with "charges of involuntary manslaughter" and not paying full-time attention to driving, reported Fox5.
